June 1, 2010 - The L.A. Sparks go above and beyond giving away their basketballs to a new local team, the NSWBA L.A. Cougars.
Saturday night, June 5th, the Home Depot Tennis Center, in Dominguez Hills, CA, will host the L.A. Sparks vs. Seattle Storm. Then during halftime the LA Sparks, will demonstrate their support and partnership with the National Senior Women’s Basketball Association (NSWBA). The game starts at 8:00 PM.
The halftime event will be an exciting ball exchange when the L.A. Sparks’ players present eleven autographed WNBA basketballs to the newest L.A. senior women’s 3 on 3 basketball league’s team, the NSWBA L.A. Cougars. The Cougars play Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays in Glendale, CA.
The Cougars also have plans to play this Sunday, June 6th, in the California State Senior Olympic Games in Pasadena to qualify for the National Senior Games which will be held in Houston, TX. in June of 2011. There, the Cougars and over 100 other women’s teams across the nation will compete in hopes of bringing home a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal for their home state.
During the game the NSWBA will have an information booth in the Home Depot Tennis Center’s concourse area to provide interested players, 40+ - 80+, information about where they can play nationally and how they can join the NSWBA.
The NSWBA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the lives and health of senior women through the creation of senior women’s basketball leagues across the nation. The San Diego Senior Women’s Basketball Association is their inspiration and model for the leagues they develop.
